We are thrilled to announce the results of our 2024 Micro Nonfiction Story Writing Contest. Once again, we received a myriad of entries, each bursting with poignant narratives that captivated our team. It was no easy task to choose the best among such inspiring submissions, but we are excited to reveal the results. A heartfelt congratulations to all our participants for sharing your incredible stories with us and making this contest a resounding success.

As we celebrate the winners, we want to express our deep appreciation to everyone who took the time to contribute their work. Your creativity and passion for storytelling shine through in every word, and it’s your enthusiasm that truly makes our contest special. We are already looking forward to next year’s entries and the continued celebration of great storytelling in the micro nonfiction format. Thank you all for making this year’s contest memorable!

An now without further ado, here are this year’s winners!

First Place:

The Child Thief
by Wendy Edwardson:

“At 38, melanoma attacked our son’s healthy, athletic body. Moving closer to his dream of a hobby farm, Alex would need sunglasses for his bright future! We had been pacified into believing surgery had won the battle.”

Second Place:

Comfort Measures Only
by Deb Blenkhorn:

“And now she’s dying. And she wants to: she’s tried to tear out her feeding tube three times, apparently. Although not since the nurse in pink scrubs was assigned to her case.”

The winners of the 2024 Micro Nonfiction Story Writing Contest have had their winning stories published in Issue 17 of the Dreamers Magazine.

Congratulations to the winners, and thank you to everyone who entered the contest!
