Announcing the Dreamers Year 1 Anthology
I’m pleased to announce the launch of the first ever Dreamers anthology. The Dreamers anthology contains all 119 poems, stories and essays published in our first year. At 416 pages, this is a book of substance!
I’m excited about this anthology for so many reasons. For one thing, with the launch of our first book, we can officially consider ourselves a book publisher. We’ve been issued a block of ISBNs from Library and Archives Canada. Isn’t that cool?!
I’m also excited about this book because it took FOREVER to create. I naively thought – how hard can it be? Just copy and paste from the website to the book.
Nope.
Nothing is ever that simple. For starters, when I copied from one place to the other, all the formatting was deleted. It takes a very long time to re-add paragraph breaks and italics to 416 pages of text. Second, reading 416 pages takes days and I had to read it multiple times in order to remove any errors (and I’m sure I missed some – forgive me). Third, formatting the table of contents was a pain in the butt! Then, I had to give all the authors a chance to review and make any corrections they found. And the book file was massive so getting it to the authors became an issue. And, don’t get me started on the cover! I could continue listing all the problems I encountered, but you get the point. Creating a book is hard!
And I am so ridiculous happy I did it.
The Dreamers anthology has so much great content inside!
- All the winning entries from our 2018 haiku contest.
- Creative non-fiction stories and essays that will make you cry.
- Heartfelt fiction that is funny, sad, and courageous – sometimes all at once.
- And, poems that will expand your mind while they break your heart.
Check it out! And if you decide to make a purchase, then on behalf of the entire Dreamers team, thank you!
